The Civil War Digital Digest was created by Will Eichler and Jeremy Brevard to bring the experiences of Civil War veterans like John D. Billings/Charles Reed (Hardtack and Coffee) and Samuel L. Watkins (Company Aytch) to a modern audience. The Digest addresses the three cornerstones of research: the men, the materials and methods.

In this installment, Jeremy interviews Dan Wambaugh about the weapons used by skirmishers and sharpshooters during the Civil War. Dan provides an excellent overview of the roles played by the soldiers, then compares the advantages of the primary weapons issued to them (both Federal and CSA).
