Can you folks tell me what the correct sling for the 1859 Sharps Infantry Rfile is?

Was it a special sling or did they use an existing pattern...

Any help greatly apppreciated!

Dell's Leather Works offers Sharps Rifle Sling, ask for it in Russet Brown Instead of Black.

Make sure you get the correct width to fit your sling swivels.

Thanks for the assist! I have a sling on order now...

Any suggestions as to who might make a bullet mould accurate to the orginals?

Thanks again and take care!

I ordered one through Dixie Gun Works (CA0108 Merrill .54 Carbine Dixie Mould) about a year ago. The Merrill bullet is a hair shorter but is still the ringtail type. I've not cast any yet, but it looks as if it will be fairly close. Be aware that their Sharps Mould (CA0110) has a max ring size of .535 and may not work well in modern reproductions, since they are .54 caliber.

They have a second Sharps mould (MO0706) that is intended for reproduction rifles. I ultimately went with the Merrill mould because 0706 was constantly on back order. I'm not certain of the status now.

Their cast Sharps bullets (BU0903) work very well in my ArmiSport.

Mr. Calum,

Well, I guess the next logical step for me after I finally get all of the drill down is to actually start using this rifle for the purpose it was originally intended. Any tips on live-firing the Armisport as compared to other black powder rifles? Does it have any peculiarities?

Jason,

Please, it's just Calum. Within my own unit I'm a corporal, so there's no reason to call me Mr...

Seriously, drop me your email address (mine's calum1861@verizon.net) and this weekend I'll get together my thoughts. If you think they're worthwhile, they can be posted here. I'm suggesting taking it off line simply because I haven't figured out how to post photos yet  Most things computer are beyond me...
