Rock Island is offering a mint 1855 Colt Root Repeating Rifle in their upcoming auction. The condition of the rifle can only be rated as excellent. This is the rifle issued to the USSS in March 1862. They were turned in “without regret” by the men in May-June. This specific rifle was unissued as a military arm.
