Fellow Sharpshooters

The Civil War Trust features video presentations online. This is the link to the Berdan Sharpshooters at Gettysburg: video:https://www.civilwar.org/learn/videos/berdans-sharpshooters-gettysburg

A description of the video is as follows; Garry Adelman, Douglas Ullman Jr. and Kristopher White of the Civil War Trust are joined by Greg Goodell of the Gettysburg National Military Park to examine an impressive collection of artifacts from the U.S. Sharpshooters

Featured items that I found particularly new and exciting:

Lt. Seaton (Co. F 1st USSS) order book
NM1859 Sharps rifle documented in Seaton's order book as being issued to Wm. Domag, who fought at with the rifle at Pitzer's Wood.
The restored uniform coat of Cpl. William Henderson, Co. K st USSS.

I have a different opinion of how the Berdan coats were dyed to achieve their Rifle Green hue (it isn't dropping them into a vat of green), but otherwise the presentation was a nice introduction to the USSS for the general public.

Enjoy
