Here is a second image showing a Confederate soldier with a DST Sharps. In this case it's a Texan who served in the west.
http://www.loc.gov/pictures/item/2011661454/This image, and the previous one showing the unidentified North Carolinian, leads me to ask some new questions. Did Sharps produce DST rifles prior to the Berdan contract for southern states or state militia organizations prior to the Civil War that could have put them in the hands of Confederates? Were double-set triggers manufactured and added to any captured/seized Sharps rifles by southern gunsmiths?
