On the Perry Adams antique website is the canteen that belonged to Sgt. Henry Lye, of Wisconsin’s Co. G. 1st USSS. Lye was mortally wounded on July 2nd at Gettysburg. He enlisted as a bugler and received promotions to corporal and Sargent before his death.

The canteen is stamped with the letters’H LYE’ ‘USSS’ around the spout. The smooth side canteen was examined by several experts who confirmed the stamp/canteen were authentic. The body of the canteen is covered with a tan kersey fabric, the cork stopper is retained by a metal chain, the iron cap, chain and loop are heavily rusted.

Accompanying the canteen is a 3/4 image of Henry Lye and an extensive biography and history of the USSS.
