On the subject of gaiters, I have been anxiously awaiting my gaiters from ACWK (American Civil War Knapsacks) and been in contact with Paul Lopes during the entire process. They arrived Thursday, which was perfect as I was pulling out Fri for a weekend school program and intended to bring out the SharpShooter personae (normally I'm Infantry) to show the kids something different.
Paul is wonderful to deal with, and very patient (see my oops further on). The gaiters were fantastic, both in fit and quality. Of their three options, I went with the darker body, rough side out. Total cost was around $110, and total turn around was a hair over two months. Part of the delay was that I initially measured too loosely (snug it down so that it's fairly tight!) and thus they had to send me a second foam pattern. Oops... That added slightly over a week, from the time that I received the original pattern to receiving the second pattern - most of that time was the patterns in shippment. I'm sure that the fact that I pretty much redesigned the original pattern and that they had to try and decipher my notations had nothing to do with the delay
.
Once we pull them off the camera, I'll see if any shots show the gaiters to good effect, and if so, I'll try to figure out how to post them. I intended to have a close up of them taken while I was wearing them, but forgot.
