Brian,

Just wanted to let you know that your tent worked out great this past weekend at our C.O.I. Even though it rained and we were able to sleep indoor, I took the courage and put a gum blanket on both ends of the tent and went to sleep with comfort in my new tent. Thanks Again Brian!

Hey Jake,

Dave touched base on this with his reply
Quote:
A Good early to mid-war shelter tent half (Type IIa) should have 3 panels, this is the best as far as authenticity, as far as I am concerned. A mid to late war half(Type IIIa) was 2 panel construction. So if you are doing an early war event you would be covered with a IIa, this would also carry you into a mid to late war period as well.

Also as Brian stated in particular contracts
Quote:
The most appropriate style of shelter tent half for a USSS impression are, in my opinion, listed below:

Joseph Lee Contract Shelter Half: Cotton drill, three vertical panels. Very common, produced in the hundreds of thousands.

H.S. McComb Contract Shelter Half: Cotton drill, two vertical panels. Roughly on-par with the Lee tent halves, very common.

Which still follow the TypeIIa and Type IIIa patterns but specific contracts issued through the government
Though there are good quality makers of both types, I would stick with Wambaugh, White, and Company or the Haversack Depot.
