Another neat little book detailing the creation of a Third Corps officer's club during the War, and the continuation of it afterwards. Some mention of Sharpshooter officers including a few passing details of the club donating money to Lt. Colonel Casper Trepp's wide following his death at Mine Run. This was written by Major William P. Shreve, formerly of the 2nd U.S. Sharpshooters and later a member of Colonel Berdan's staff.

Volume 1:

Volume 2:

William Price Shreve enlisted on December 1st, 1862 and was commissoned into Company H, 2nd U.S. Sharpshooters as a first lieutenant on December 27th, 1862. Soon after he was appointed to Colonel Berdan's staff and apparently served in that capacity until he mustered out on December 31st, 1864. After the war he was breveted Captain then Major on the same day (3/13/65). Prior to joining the U.S. Sharpshooters, Shreve (and his relative Benjamin Shreve Calef, later also a lieutenant and Berdan staff member) was a member of the 9th New York State Militia (also known as the 83rd New York Infantry) in 1861. A photograph from the Massachussetts Commandery of MOLLUS collection depicts Shreve and Calef in their militia uniforms and inscribed on the back with "W.P. Shreve and B.S. Calef in uniform of the 9th N.Y. Militia, 1861."
