Post subject:  Gary Yee's new book on Sharpshooters

Fellow Sharpshooters.

Gary Yee has been researching sharpshooters and sharpshooting for many years. He has posted his 'bed time stories' for readers of the High Road; and many of them describe little known or largely forgotten US and CSA sharpshooters and their deadly trade. Yee's book is a comprehensive examination of the world of military sharpshooting that begins with the French and Indian War and ends with the Great War. Of course, his treatment of US and CSA sharpshooting promises to be the most in depth I have found consolidated in a single edition (based on my years of reading his High Road articles).

Sharpshooters (1750-1900), The Men, Their Guns, Their Story By Gary Yee

“SHARPSHOOTERS” examines the black powder sharpshooter in battle and their struggle for acceptance. Follow them through their early battles from the German Jagers of the Seven Years War at Minden, to the deadly post Civil War American Rifleman. “SHARPSHOOTERS” explores first hand accounts of both Billy Yank and Johnny Reb as they fight each other in Virginia, the Midwest and along the Mississippi. Learn how the men were selected and trained; and discover their tactics and countermeasures. Largely overlooked until now, ”SHARPSHOOTERS” brings to focus a military history that has left an enduring legacy to their modern descendents – the Sniper.
