Post subject:  Personal Experiences of Frederick T. Peet in the Civil War

Fellow Sharpshooters;

In 1905, Frederick Tomlinson Peet published a memoir of his Civil War service in the 7th New York Militia, Company H, 1st USSS, and the United States Marine Corps. His “Personal Experiences” was largely based on his wartime correspondence to his family and former USSS comrades, Captain William W. Winthrop, and Major George Hastings.

Peet’s last duty station was Mare Island, California. After resigning his commission, Peet remained in California; buying property in Napa Valley and becoming a farmer. It would be fascinating to see if his original farm survives today.
