It has been a mystery to me for a short while now, but why doesn't Company C 2nd U.S.S.S. have a Monument on the field of Gettysburg or even have Company Roster on the Pennsylvania Monument? I have thought with them fighting on their native state soil to repeal the Army of Northern Virginia after three terrible days. Would have a long lasting effect on thier minds to have them remembered there.

Did it just not come up during reunions, didn't raise enough money, or anyother reasons?

That’s an excellent question. Randy Bartley has done some work with local officials and State Legistrators trying to remedy this. I know it’s a long and drawn out process that has to get funding and approval from many different levels. Perhaps Randy can address this at our company meeting in January.

That would be great to know his findings on this matter. If there is anything we could do, as in fund raising, I would be all for that and try to help the best I could. I just think there should be something on the fields of Gettysburg, even if it's just a little marker or just a Company Roster on the Pennsylvania Monument. Those brave soldiers should have their names visible for everybody to see that they fought on those fields. Just my two cents

I don't think it is just about funds but also securing permissions to modify the existing PA monument.

Joseph:

Good to see you at the meeting Saturday. I’m sure you heard randy say the proposal has been sent to the NPS and has “died” there. He hopes the NPS will eventually move on it, but who knows. Maybe more “prodding” from Mr. Scarnati ?
