The following link describes the fascinating and hazardous actions of the Army of Potomac’s Engineers Battalion, tasked with creating the pontoon bridge at Franklin’s Crossing. While not exactly sharpshooter specific, the Engineers made the reconnaissance, and the Andrews Sharpshooters exploits, possible.
