The image shows two round targets housed in the Pennsylvania State archives. The article gives additional information that reinterprets why and by whom the targets were created.

Thanks Calum,

Fascinating article! Thanks also to your friend for cluing you in to this. I have never seen actual used targets from that era. We are all familiar with the accuracy requirements, but to see the results of marksmanship of that period in such a finely preserved state just boggles the mind. These targets represent "facts" not "words".
