New kid on your block. I'm John, I live in upstate NY. I've been a military arms collector for a long time. Greatly interested in the history attached to the battles and surviving firearms. Civil War ranks among my favorites. Own a Spencer 1860 & 1865 Carbine, Remington New Army, Colt 1860 Army and in the middle of purchasing a Sharps 1859NM rifle Ser.#5639x which puts it in Berdan territory. Hope to learn more and offer any info I have on Sharps.

John,

Welcome to the Forum.

A couple of the fellows who are active in living history groups and present at NPS battlefields own original Berdan contract NM1859 Sharps. The rest of us have to be content to travel to museums or events like the Mansfield CW collectors shows and try to keep from drooling all over the Sharps on display. Even with the bum economy, Berdan range Sharps, especially if they have set triggers, command daunting prices. Looking forward to your contributions to this site.
